How would you go about making a technique for an additional mild consequenece?
My first thought was the resiliant feature with the situation (physical/mental only) flaw. However, resiliant is ally only, not available for techniques. My second thought was exceptional, but that costs 2 features and requires 2 flaws…so situational (physical only) and limited to once per scene? That sounds about right, but the "once per scene" flaw seems like an afterthought.
My last idea was sturdy feature twice, but that's ally/device only, not technique. Any reason that it's not for techniques?

Instead of fiddling with the complicated shift-pacing math that underlies the stress/consequence mechanic, we decided to go with straight shift protection.
To make a character tougher than normal, give them the Protective feature on a technique, such as the Iron Shirt (Type: Technique; Guiding Aspect: Martial Stance of Invulnerability; Features: Protective 1; Flaws: Demanding: Fair (+2) Fighter roll [because this technique requires a lot of skill to perform], Situational: Only vs. attacks you see coming; Cost: 1 Refresh).
You can find other ways to apply it, too. You could just be a tough guy, who gets Protective with the situational flaw that it only protects you until you take a damage (or only after you've taken damage), only while drunk, etc.
